Duet With MY Youngest Son

My first single in many years, comes as a surprise. I’d written a song by request from my manager, to be a duet for a father and son group. I did. And that band broke up in the studio, hopefully not over this song 8). Six months later my son Devin upon hearing a version, asked me rather timidly if he could sing it with me. “just for the family” he said cause he didn’t want to mess with my career?

I was honored he would ask and ashamed that I hadn’t thought of it. it took almost another year to get this recorded for ourselves and actually get Devin in the studio to sing it.

We are offering this single as a free download to the buyers of Dear God..Really? book on line. and to anyone coming to my concerts.

This song is mostly about the message of what fathers and sons mean to each other in the road we must travel and the motivation we must find. It’s interesting how our perspectives change when we have children of our own.

let me say that Devin is my youngest of two sons, he’s an actor, writer, singer. and this tune is not in a phrasing that he would sing normally. (he screams alot more). But he wanted to do it for what it says! I’m so proud! he learns and finds the truth to apply, and loves to apply it even when it doesn’t feel quite comfortable! Me Too! and that’s where we became brothers in Christ as well. I gotta go now… I’m gonna tear up. 8)

    Hey Bryan,
I loved to hear that song. What if I already bought the book? I’m reading through it for the second time, but I’m just reading one prayer a day this time. It’s a little bit easier to digest…. one day at a time! Love it though. Thanks for being brave enough to share it with us.

  2. Bryan, I really enjoyed your ministry and of course, the music this weekend! I hope to catch you at the Global Bean this evening as well. Being a new father (my son is 15 months old) I was tearing up when you sang that duet with your son. I pray that God will always keep me in check, so I will be even half the positive influence on Nate as you are to your kids and to everyone around you. Nearing the end of my military music career, I am at a crossroads, praying for the Lord’s guidance in my life as well as in my career as a musician. I am honored to have had the opportunity to make music in worship with you. I know I speak for all of us in the Praise Band in saying that we all were this past weekend.

I purchased your book too, and would like to hear the duet. Is there a way I can hear it? Thanks!

  4. Hello Bryan, I just discovered you and your music last week when browsing through a series of Christian music videos on utube. I thought your voice and music style were just fantastic and I have never heard Christian music like this before. I am a Christian myself and usually of the more traditional type. Your comments made before the tracks gave me an interest to know a little more about you. Do you have a biography I could by or a specific web site where I could find it? Over here in Scotland it is sometimes difficult to purchase American products. Any info you could pass on regarding this would be helpful. Look forward to getting a reply and hope you keep on blessing folk through your music ministry. anna.

Glad you found me anna, I’ve never been to Scotland but my early decendants came from there! there’s no biography on me, I’m still working on the finished story! 8).
google my name, you should find more info out there than even I would like to know. as far as product and current happenings, note my facebook and twitter pages for quicker response time

What is the name of the duet? We saw Devin on Undercover Boss and are very interested in hearing the song!

  6. I have loved your music since I saw you in concert in Tacama, WA. with Russ Taff. (“Their Is A Medicine” tour around 1989) Though I think my absolute favorite was watching you sing with “Allies” at Seattle Pacific University. That was the best concert I have ever been to! :) Some of my friends & I did a lip sync to “Rely On Me” at our church’s Talent Night, good times. My husband is in the U.S. Navy & we are now stationed in Virginia. I hope that one day we can take our daughter to one of your concerts, as she has grown up listening to your music. :) I’m sorry to hear about your divorce, been there, done that too, unfortunately. I found that it’s never easy, especially when you’re a “PK” that grew up in church. I pray that God blesses you as you walk with Him. He is SO faithful! When we watched “Undercover Boss” we saw Devin. When he mentioned that his Dad was a Christian musician, I told my husband, “That HAS to be Bryan Duncan’s son.” :) Sure enough! I would love to hear the song of the two of you singing together.

Ah-ha! So Devin was YOUR son!! How cool! Not only was he totally wired and full of such a great personality during his whole spot on the show (Undercover Boss) but what an awesome way for the Lord to be glorified on the program. I’m telling you, He is doing stuff in your life and with your ministry!! Resurrection, man!

Excited for the new things He is doing,
    Love,
    Joanna (Oregon, from Prayer Northwest)

I missed that! Which episode of Undercover Boss was Devin on?
Bryan – I have listened to and loved your music ever since Have Yourself Committed debuted. Your lyrics are so witty and poignant and often I feel like I have been on the same journey of pain and laughter with you. I’ve even met you at Hume Lake. I must agree with Charity above that the concert you did with the Allies (albeit in Fresno, CA) was one of my all-time favority concerts. Just keep walkin’ and sharin’ what you find along the way.

BY the way – I’m trying to find a downloadable recording of Do You Hear What I Hear that you recorded with (I think) Bonnie Keen and ????
Do you know where I could find it?

I have no idea where you might find that. I recorded it in an afternoon and it was someone else’s project! I don’t think I ever heard it after that! 8)
