Bryan Duncan’s Kickstarter FAQ

I launched a Kickstarter campaign to record a new album and re-issue eight of my past recordings. Many of you have asked questions. Here are some answers.

How Can I Help?

I’ve been told that using social media effectively is one of the keys to a successful Kickstarter campaign. Your help is extremely important because even the people who like my Facebook page or follow me on Twitter don’t see everything I post. On the average day about 10-15 percent of you “might” see something from me. And then there’s the hundreds of thousands of people who actually own one or more of my albums but have no idea that I’m still alive much less on Facebook or Twitter. I’d appreciate it if you could share the story and/or the campaign.

This story tells a bit more about me and how God is working in my life. You’ll notice it has buttons to make sharing on Facebook, Twitter, Digg, etc. very easy. Please use them to share the story as soon as you’re able.

This Kickstarter page includes a video and information about my campaign. It also lists the cool stuff you’ll get for participating – things like autographed albums, house concerts, duets in concert or on your album projects and the chance to connect by phone or videoconference to talk about our lives, new songs, old songs, etc. You’ll find answers to any questions about Kickstarter there.

I’ll be able to use Kickstarter’s tools to connect with you if you pledge your support of at least one dollar. I start throwing in fun perks if you pledge at least three dollars. I hope you can find a way to participate that works for you and some rewards that charge your batteries.

You’ll notice the Kickstarter page also has buttons to make sharing on Facebook, Twitter, etc. very easy. You can send a private message to me there and find out more about Kickstarter. There are also answers to more questions there, like “Can I participate even if I don’t live in the United States?” (Spoiler alert: the answer is yes).

What Happens If You Don’t Reach The Goal?

In a word – nothing.

Kickstarter uses an all or nothing model. So, if we don’t reach the goal the project isn’t funded. Nobody who pledged support will be asked to provide it. None of the fun rewards will be produced or shipped. It will be as if we stepped back in time only we won’t look any younger.

Website News

BryanDuncan.com is on a new and faster server. That means the pages here at BryanDuncan.com should load faster for you.

In addition, we’re adding new music to the “Basement Tapes” section every few days. If you’ve been looking for an old Bryan Duncan album for awhile, take a look. It just might be there. If you don’t see it, leave a comment on this post and let us know what you’re looking for. Maybe we can get it for you!

Also, we added a “Contact Us” link at the top of the page. See it? If you have questions about the website, about Bryan, about the meaning of life, let us know! We’ll be adding a FAQ sometime soon, so if we get the same question multiple times, we’ll add it there. What’s your question?

Certified Safe!

As part of the “New and Improved” BryanDuncan.com, we’ve subscribed to a very cool service called “SiteLock“. SiteLock automatically scans our website for vulnerabilities and malware to ensure they are not being blocked or spammed.

See that cool graphic at the top of the sidebar on the right? That’s your guarantee that there are no nasties hiding in the pages or other content here at BryanDuncan.com.

How cool is that?

Progress on rebuilding the website is…well…progressing

Most of the links you see won’t work yet, but as you can see, we’re filling in the content.

After the content is back, we’ll work on the “look” of the page and you’ll see the familiar “Bryan Duncan” theme.

Onward!

We’re back!

As you may have noticed if you’ve been here sometime in the last couple of weeks, we got hacked pretty badly.

I know God is a God of grace, but if I had my druthers, hackers would have to undergo something especially difficult to obtain His mercy. But that’s just me. I guess it’s a good thing I’m not God, huh?

Be that as it may, you’ll see the website here take shape over the next few days. You’ve been patient thus far, and we really appreciate it.

In case you’re interested, we have moved our hosting company and added a couple of layers of new security to the website. Let’s hope that will keep the troublemakers at bay.
